92212_kc star illustrations and animation

These are two of seven illustrations I did for the KC Star this past week! It was a blast to be able to work in a really limited palette like this.

Also, I've been messing around with animation in Flash. Sorry, this is kind of a ragtag post. I'll put more up sooner or later.

032712_practicing that animation design style!

Here's a piece you haven't seen, and another which you have, but not this resolved. They're mostly for my previously mentioned pixar internship portfolio, but they're still really fun as just quick production painting challenges. I rarely let myself do pure character design, it's almost always something in the context of a scene, which I think strengthens the character overall, but is more time consuming.
The astronaut men took about 30-45 min a piece. I definitely got faster with each one I did.

Hey everybody! So the Robo-san and Wan-chan animated short film is still trucking a long and we're making great progress with it every day. We'd really love to send the film to different animation festivals and film festivals when we finish it, as well as produce an art book for it, but we need YOUR help!

Check out our Kickstarter page below and you can watch a video about what we're doing and how we're doing it and then you join the fight to share Robo-san, and get cool stuff in return!
Thanks for reading and for your support!

Long time, no post...

Okay, so I'll skip all that happened in between --life, love, school, finances, etc.-- and move right in to the now.

It's the summer and, in an effort to remain productive, I've teamed up with a couple buddies from the KCAI animation department Stephen
and Ben. They're passionate, hard working fellows who are helping me adapt what was my final project for my Japanese Language class, a story about a robot who lost his dog, into an animation!

The aesthetics and all that are going to stay pretty true to the story. It'll be produced in such a way that they'll be animated with a 3D character on top of my 2d digital matte paintings. I think the final product could end up looking really snazzy if we get it down right. I hope to keep posting bits and pieces to show the process and all of the problems we encounter!

For now, just the source material so you all can see what it is and how it's gonna look. Be warned, this is like...1st grade Japanese if you can read it and it's a children's book. So it sounds like a children's book. "This is Jack. This is Jane. They are very boring, though concise people" and all that. I'll show more in the future as more gets done!

Assassin's Creed Initiation - Twelve months in the making.

I spent just about every weekend and some time during the weekdays of freshman year working on doing the digital paintings for this animation. I think it caused my studio work to suffer just a little bit at times, and it definitely caused my sleep schedule to suffer, but I learned a lot and it was a great experience!
